Eddie Murphy in Talks to Star in “Grumpy Old Men” Remake

It was recently announced that New Line Cinema is working on a new version of the beloved 1993 comedy Grumpy Old Men and we are now beginning to discover more details about the project. According to The Hollywood Reporter the legend of the comedy Eddie Murphy is in talks to star in the film.

Directed by Donald Petrie, Grumpy Old Men tells the story of two neighbors, played by Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, who are in a fight since childhood. Things get worse when an attractive neighbor moves across the street. If he says yes to the project, Murphy will play the character of Lemmon or Matthau.

The remake of Grumpy Old Men will be directed by Tim Story ( Ride Along ), while John Davis, who produced the original and its sequel, will also return in the same role for this Proyect. The rest of the cast and the release date of the film remain unknown.

While Grumpy Old Men was not a hit among critics, the public loved the movie and made it a blockbuster. In 1995, a sequel entitled Grumpier Old Men was launched to even more negative criticism. Even so, the audience once again responded well to the follow-up and had commercial success similar to the original.

Eddie Murphy will be in familiar territory with the new version of Grumpy Old Men as he starred in several similar projects, including Dr. Dolittle and Nutty Professor remakes.
